Dennis M. Foster is Jackson-Hope Distinguished Professor and Head of the Department of International Studies and Political Science at Virginia Military Institute. He teaches courses on international relations, American foreign policy, terrorist and counterterrorist strategy, domestic politics and war, religion and war, and research design. His research, which has been published in such outlets as the British Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, Political Psychology, Journal of Conflict Resolution, and Foreign Policy Analysis, focuses on the domestic impetuses of international conflict (especially economic difficulties, leadership psychology, and legislative behavior), democratic institutions and terrorist violence, and nuclear proliferation.
